Sally Stowell Kreitler

As I look back on my life, and especially the fifty years since graduating from Wellesley, RELATIONSHIPS are what give my life true meaning; RELATIONSHIPS with my family, my friends and my community.

First, I am married to wonderful man, my husband Hoby, who is indeed my best friend.  My five children bring me great joy, along with their spouses and our fifteen grandchildren, twelve of which live in our town of Fairfield, CT.

My RELATIONAHIPS with friends are very important to me and I cherish these relationships; I still get together with some high school friends and of course as president of our Wellesley class for these last five years, I have loved renewing relationships with so many classmates and have discovered that Wellesley has meant more and more to me as I have gotten older.  I do look back on my years at Wellesley with great pride (even though when I was there I wondered if I was smart enough to graduate!)

In my home town of Southport/ Fairfield, where I have lived for forty years, I have many many friends who mean a great deal to me.

My RELATIONSHIP with our community has been very important to me.  Like most Wellesley women, I have always been involved in volunteer work at in our area, which is close to Bridgeport, CT.  Five years ago, Hoby and I decided to start a summer academic enrichment camp, one of twelve Horizons programs in the country here in our area, for underserved Bridgeport children.  It consists of academics in the morning and enrichment (swimming, field trips, art, etc) in the afternoon.  The program will include grades K-8 when we are complete and there will be 110 children involved.  Each child that enters in Kindergarten, returns every summer thereafter through eighth grade.  It is truly a very rewarding experience for us and we stay very involved in it.

I am blessed with good health and enjoy many sports -golf, tennis, skiing, biking. I figure I must keep the old body moving, or else!!!  We love traveling and want to keep that up as long as possible.

As I witness what is happening around the world, I have great concern for the future.  With the media 'in our face' all the time, the unsettled world situation and the lack of trust and respect for human life, along with deception, and fear, no wonder I am concerned about out grandchildren's future.

But my optimistic self tells me that the world will settle down and that the goodness of people will come out on top.  But with that optimism, we need spiritual help and a lot of hard work to make this a better world.
